THIS SATURDAY: Mutual Aid for Cooperative Housing

In December 2024 we heard from two housing co-ops (MAJ in London and ASH in Cambridge) about a new model they developed for mutually beneficial cooperation between established and emergent housing cooperatives.

Both co-ops continued to develop the model and, together with others, set up a new group, MATCH (Mutual Aid towards Cooperative Housing) with the aim to encourage and facilitate financial support between housing co-ops.

The model offers established housing co-ops a practical way to build long term financial resilience, while investing in the cooperative movement (and leaving the banks out of the picture!)

On 21 February we will hear from representatives from MATCH about how LFHC co-ops could take part in the project, explore the potential challenges and benefits, discuss ways to share it with our members and agree on the next steps.
